Goals

Corte Figaretto aspires to produce high quality wines without environmental compromises.

We want to produce wines that are fully recognizable and representative of the identity of Valpolicella.

The wines must be elegant and fine, highly drinkable, but with character. In fact they must develop and show the imprint of the local climate, soils and varieties.

The grapes are therefore not pressed, but only destemmed; in this way they remain intact and fall by gravity into the fermentation tank. Here the grapes will open following the natural movements of fermentation, which always occurs through indigenous yeasts.

Territory and sustainability

Corte Figaretto is a small winery located in the heart of Valpolicella, in particular in the “Valpantene” cru.

The valley is also called “Valley of all the Gods” thanks to its fertility and its richness in resurgences which give the area a characteristic bright green color.

The most common soils are of volcanic origin as well as biancone.

Sustainability is the key word of our winery and this is why we proudly join the Valpolicella RRR project: Reduce, Save, Respect.

We have not used herbicides for many years and pay attention to respecting the soil and water resources. Furthermore, Mauro dedicates a lot of time to the sustainable and responsible management of his plots; for example, employ agronomic methods as much as possible.

Technique

Our cellar works with the gravity winemaking system. This means that we do not use pumps when mashing the grapes. In fact, this phase is very critical and the method allows for greater respect for the grapes.

The grapes are therefore not pressed, but only destemmed; in this way they remain intact and fall by gravity into the fermentation tank. Here the grapes will open following the natural movements of fermentation, which always occurs through indigenous yeasts.
