Valpolicella Superiore DOC – Alte Quare

Location: Valpolicella Valpantena, Controlled Designation of Origin

Vineyard: Collina Vineyards

Grapes: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara and Oseleta

Vineyards: Owned vineyards from Valpantena: hamlets of Poiano, Quinto and Santa Maria in Stelle

Characteristics of the vineyards:  Located in a hilly position with south-east and south-west exposure, the soils are strongly calcareous. The plants are mainly Gujot with a density of 4000 plants per hectare while a small portion is cultivated with Pergola Veronese

Winemaking and Aging

Harvest: Carried out by hand in small crates in the second ten days of September.

Vinification: The pressed grapes fall by gravity into small 50 hl stainless steel vats. Daily pumpovers and delestages are carried out throughout the entire fermentation period. Temperature controlled at 27-28°C

Tasting Notes

Maturation: Aging carried out in barriques for 14 months.

Organoleptic characteristics: Ruby red color with garnet and purple hues. Fresh aroma of ripe cherry and blackberry, greater aromatic complexity is due to notes of sage and coffee. The flavor is dry and persistent, the acidity gives elegance and verticality to the wine.

Pairings: Ideal with slices, stews and medium-long matured cheeses.

Alcohol: 14.5% Vol.

Serving temperature: 16-18°C
